Trims and Tucks

I have been working hard on a few things.  My new strike-offs are being sewn up into samples for Spring Quilt Market.  That is not until May.  I don't think I have ever done anything this far ahead before.

Yay for me!  Of course that means that I am behind in other things.

As usual.  Oh well.

There is just so much that needs to happen before Market that I better get busy.   Booth design is already starting to take up some of my time.  So it was really fun to work with my new fabrics.  I have one little quilt up on the design wall--still needing the applique to be finished.

I think I will have the new pattern include this small table-top size as well as a larger, lap size quilt.  Do you like the idea of having two size options in one pattern?  How about at name?  You gals are good at naming.  So I will entertain all your ideas.

And then there is this darling little sun dress I made for my little Emmy.  I should put her in it to show you, but she is not here, so that will have to wait.  It is much cuter with her inside it.

I used the zig-zag print my the new Poppy Patio line to make the dress.  The tucking on the bodice naturally creates the fullness in the skirt.  When the zig-zags are tucked, they become diamonds.  Isn't that a fun idea!

I am getting ready to go to a show in St. George, Utah in a few weeks.  If you are nearby, please come see me at my booth!  It is the Dixie Quilt Guild "GEMS OF THE DESERT" show, held in the Dixie Special Events Center,  March 29 - 30.
Yes, that is Easter weekend, so you know you will want to come to the sunshine at Utah's Dixie, right?

It is almost time for the March PDQ post at the Henry Glass blog.  Last month's drawing for a fabric bundle is still open for a few more days--'til the 19th.  So click on this link,  (henry glass blog)
and go leave a comment to enter!

You can also win by posting a photo of your project you made using the free pattern or Jill's fabrics.  Details are on the HG blog.

I love the new quilt and I like seeing different pattern sizes too! The inside hst's remind me of butterflies and you have berries in the applique border, so how about Butterflies and Berries for a name? It kind of has a ring to it!

Love those fabrics! I'm all in favor of a pattern with more than one size option. It saves my poor, tired brain from having to work so hard in the event that I want a larger (or smaller) size. When I first looked at the quilt I saw hourglass figures all over. Since you're offering two size options how about "Time for Two" as a title. If you decide to offer more sizes you can just change the "two" to the new number of options.

The little dress is adorable! I didn't realize that chevrons would turn into diamonds. Reminds me of the counterchange smocking technique done with stripes or gingham. I always wanted to make one of those dresses for my daughter but never got around to it. Don't let little Emmy's childhood pass by without making her lots of cute little things in which to show off.

Oh Jill, I love your niece's dress. Your fabrics worked out so well and the dress is just sew sweet!! Did you draft your own pattern? Will you be making it available? If it's from another pattern source, can you tell me where to find it? I have so many granddaughters and this would be such fun to make for them.
