Baby Aiden

I haven't written for a while.  My little grandson, Aiden, was born and lived only a few precious hours.  He was here long enough to meet his family and leave with them a glimpse of eternity and perfection.  I could feel the strength of his spirit and his powerful will to live.  We will be forever changed for having known him.  Many people have shared their prayers and thoughts with our family, and we are so grateful.
In the same week, our family was gathering for our annual quilt retreat.  I stopped by on my way home and shared Aiden's story with them, while they shared their support and grief, prayers and love.  This retreat is always so much more than quilting, but quilting is what started it all.  They made a tiny little quilt to drape Aiden's casket, wrapping it in the softness and love only family can share.
My neice April is a talented writer and was able to capture what the quilt retreat means to all of us.  If you are a quilter, or a part of a family, this will touch your heart.  Visit her post titled "Threads" on her blog at thetworegrets.squarespace.com  (The post is dated 4-6-09.  You will have to scroll down to get to it.)Her words reflect what I feel and cannot express.
I hope you have someone to quilt with, too.
Happy Quilting

Words cannot express the aching heart and empty arms of a mother who has lost her baby. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Sarah.
