We had a family quilting evening last night.  A few of us got together at my house to make part of a remembrance quilt for a dear niece.  Her little girl, Stori passed away yesterday, and we are all devastated.  We didn't know what we could do, so we are making a little quilt to wrap our love around her and remind her that so many of us care and are praying for their family.  We sent fabric and instructions to two other groups of family members in Arizona and southern Utah.  Each group will do 4 rows of this quilt.  It is just a very simple and sweet little quilt.

This is my daughter-in-law Caitie ironing  the  blocks.
And there's my nieces Amy and Melissa with daughter-in-law Erin between them.
Amy's daughter, Ashley was sewing along with the rest of us.  Her sister Sydney was also here helping us, but I didn't get a picture of her.  Another niece, Andrea and my daughter-in-law Katie came too.  (I have been a little picture challenged because my camera broke, so it is harder for me to get pics to post.)

We made small nine-patch and snowball blocks.  We used some of the fabric from the Elizabeth's Letter's line.  I thought it would be special because it is based on a family letter, but after everyone had gone home last night, I remembered some of the words from the letter:

“Memory and farewell words from your never forgetting mother. . . . .
Farewell, my dear child. . .”

These words from little Stori's third Great Grandmother echo the feelings of any mother at the departing of a beloved child.  How applicable it is, and comforting to know that Elizabeth was among those to greet Stori on the other side.

I wondered if I should post about something so sad, but it is a part of life, and if we are there to help strengthen those around us when they need it, we will all be blessed.  Go hug your loved ones.

So sweet. I cant wait to get my hands on Elizabeth's letters. I love the family I married into. You guys are the greatest. Lets not have anymore of these family sewing nights. We can't lose any more babies.
