I am the Designer of the Month for August with Aurifil Threads. I am so lucky to be part of the Aurifil team. I have been sewing with this thread for over a decade, and I just love all it's great qualities: strong, smooth, thin, lintless, and colorful, to name a few. As you know, I have my own Aurifil collection called EVERYDAY COLORS. I think we should give some away, don't you?
I will give a box of Everyday Colors to one lucky
reader.
It's easy to enter to win:
1. Become a follower here on my Blog.
2. "Like" my page on facebook.
3. Visit the Aurifil blog to see my post there.
3. Leave me comment here so I can choose a winner!
I will choose a winner on August 8th, so pass it along.
Here is my block. You can get the free pattern at the Aurifl Blog. I made four of them in my "Beyond the Gate" fabric collection.
Then I made five alternate blocks, since I love to appliqué. Aurifil thread is wonderful to hand stitch with because it doesn't tangle and it is so fine that it kind of "melts" into the fabric and you won't see your stitching. I
I put them together in a quilt I am still working on, but it should be done soon. I am going to add a row or two of piecing before I sew the borders on. But I have to finish the hand stitching on the applique first. I will let you know when I have the complete pattern ready. I will also have some kits available.
Here is a little tutorial on my applique method. You can see more tutorials on my website under the FUN STUFF tab.
(Well, I can't get it to upload, so go to the link to my website and watch it there.)
